+# Label Tools
+
+Label Tools is a production-oriented, local-first browser studio for merging
+CSV/JSON records into printable label, badge and asset-tag sheets.
+
+Version 0.1.0 includes:
+
+- bounded CSV and JSON parsing with nested JSON field flattening;
+- explicit field mapping plus local serial and cryptographically random values;
+- address-label, name-badge and asset-tag layouts with automatic text fitting;
+- locally embedded PNG, JPEG and WebP assets selected by filename or default;
+- QR Code, Code 128, GS1-128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, Code 39, Data Matrix,
+  PDF417 and Aztec Code fields through the bundled bwip-js encoder;
+- millimetre, inch and point input with common A4/US Letter stocks and a
+  validated custom grid;
+- start-slot selection, X/Y offset and independent scale calibration;
+- optional cut guides and registration marks;
+- paginated print preview and explicit print calibration guidance;
+- vector SVG, deterministic multi-page SVG/report ZIP, and 144 DPI PDF export.
+
+Data and assets remain in browser memory. There is no telemetry, remote API,
+font download, CDN asset or automatic request.

+## Run and verify
+

+Node.js 22 or newer and the Chromium/Firefox Playwright browsers are required
+for the complete verification suite.

+## Print and font boundary
+
+Label-stock names describe common geometries, not vendor certification. Measure
+the actual sheet, print the registration/cut marks on plain paper, choose
+“actual size” or 100% scale, and disable browser headers/footers before using
+stock. Printer feed and unprintable margins are outside browser control.
+
+SVG uses one of four system font stacks and does not embed fonts. Results can
+therefore vary by operating system. PDF export intentionally rasterizes each
+generated SVG page at 144 DPI, preserving the preview appearance on the same
+device but not creating an archival or press-quality font-embedded PDF.
+
+## Limits
+
+Merge data is limited to 2 MiB, 2,000 rows, 100 fields and 10,000 characters per
+field. Up to 50 local raster images / 32 MiB total are accepted, with 8 MiB and
+40 megapixels per image. Print/PDF runs are capped at 100 pages; SVG ZIP remains
+available for larger bounded merges.
